Rose-Breasted Grosbeak
The top photo is a male and the bottom is a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak getting their name from their heavy conical bill. They are considered monogamous (one male to one female) and both help build the nest. Maybe that is why I love these birds so much!
Lure them to your feeder with black oiler sunflower seeds. Woo them with a bird bath as they love to splash around just like Robins! They also migrate south so be sure to keep your eye out during the spring and summer.

ReplyDeleteI do too! I lived in a new subdivision for awhile a few years ago with no trees! It was killer. I now have tons of trees, shrubs and flowers that many different kinds of birds love. Thanks for hosting Eco Kids Tuesday.
