Breakfast Menu Planning

Hello my name is Angela.
I have a problem.
I like food and I love to cook.

How can that be a problem?  I can't cook the same thing twice in a few weeks time.  Really!  It is bad.  See it is so bad that I forget some of the best things I have made.  I forget the simple things like what to cook for breakfast some mornings if it isn't spelled out in a menu plan.  It is a curse I promise you.  I have decided to help myself out and come up with a 7 day breakfast and lunch plan.  I will leave dinner open for artist design.

You can jot down your own ideas and favorites.  I decided to leave off things like french toast, pancakes, quiche, gravy and biscuits.  Those are special occasion breakfasts so they are not an everyday breakfast for our house.  They may be for you though.  Don't let me limit you!

I have also taken into account that summer is upon us so we will be running alot more and need quick, healthy, protein filled starts to our day.  We are all also home Saturday mornings so that will be our big sit down and tarry breakfast.  Sundays are rushed getting to music practice and Sunday school so smoothies fit well there.  Look at your week.  What is a normal week like in your house?  Is there a day that kids can help out and cook?  This will just be an outline.  If you happen to have plans to go to breakfast with a friend you will just forgo your plan.  If a run comes up for our family we will eat light if anything and skip the plan.  Let me repeat this is an outline there to help you have more time to do other things besides figure out how to feed your bunch.

Here is what I came up with for the summer months in our house.  We like eggs alot so we will have them several times a week but in different ways.

Saturday ~  sausage patty, fried eggs and homemade biscuits
Sunday ~ smoothie
Monday ~ grapefruit half, egg & cheese omelet, toast
Tuesday ~ granola with raw milk, yogurt with blueberries
Wednesday ~ fried eggs and potatoes
Thursday ~ smoothie & bagel
Friday ~ oatmeal, bacon, English muffin

Next up...lunch planning!  I am on a roll and I am free!

What is your favorite breakfast for fast?
What is your favorite sit down and tarry breakfast?

  1. Cold cereal or oatmeal for fast. I love to pop a pancake in the toaster too. For sit down I love scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and sausage.

Your menu looks yummy! Thanks so much for linking up to the "Making Your Home Sing Monday" linky party today! ;)

  2. I always forget about breakfast when it comes to making it. I'm stuck in a cereal rut right now because it's easy though I'm making sure to buy organic cereal. Just putting together a smoothie the night before would make such a difference.

Thanks for sharing your tips at Motivation Monday!

    1. Barb I know that rut I have been there :)
Anything to help get me out of the house and outside during the summer even if it means I have to sit down under a tree to do some weekly planning!

  4. I'm trying to do something similar at my house - the same 7 breakfasts each week. I'm also trying to double my dinners so that we can reheat leftovers for lunch. I adore cooking, too, but it's just not practical to be experimenting 3 times a day! I end up tired out or feeling rushed and messing things up!

I love oatmeal and boiled eggs for a fast breakfast. (We have to have lots of protein at breakfast. We go through a dozen eggs in 2 days for just my husband, me, our 2yo and our 1yo!)

For a sit down breakfast, we love biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and sliced up fruit!

    1. I am a southern gal so I love some biscuits and gravy. How sad is it that I have just learned to make good homemade biscuits!?
