Hard Lotion Bar

I did it!  Yay!  Hooray!
I went and made a list of topics to write about.

-------long pause------

So I told you yesterday I can let that be what my day is about.  Planning and not enjoying.  So don't worry I do not have a listed order just ideas.

Now here it is the 2nd day and I don't know where to start!  I mean should I tell you about my favorite recipes?  How about what herbs I am growing this year?  Well, how about what I am gleaning from what I am reading?  Oh wait a book list!  That's it.  My favorite books!  Maybe not. I would have to go make a pot of coffee, go downstairs to take a look at my books and feel led to pick up a few things, I would then want to dust off the books that are there to which I would have to go the the cleaning closet to get the spray.  Then I would smell all my curing soaps and want to take another count to make sure I have enough to sell and give away.  Then I would get a piece of paper and pen and remember I need to pay a few bills which would lead me back to the computer to check my account.  I would then find my blog page left open waiting for that book list and I would ask myself what was I going to write about on the second day????

Faint not friends.  I do have something to share.  Solid Lotion Bars. What could be entertaining about it is that I have never made it before.  So we will find out together if it is a keeper.  You can find the original recipe from My Country Cottage.  If I find good stuff I want to share it with you and I want to also share where I purchase the things I need.  Isn't that the hardest step sometimes?  Finding the materials you need and at the best quality and price.

First I need to assemble all the players.
3oz cocoa butter
3oz beeswax
3 oz sunflower oil
1 tsp essential oil of choice (optional)

Some people my enjoy the natural scent of the cocoa butter to shine through.  Especially if you get nondeoderized cocoa butter.  It is delicious.

Because I make soap I buy most of the things I need like essential oils, cocoa butter and beeswax from Brambleberry.com.  If you are interested in making these for gifts it might be worth it to buy the sunflower oil from soaperschoice.com.  Shipping is super fast!

Next we need to gently melt the beeswax and cocoa butter over medium low heat.  This took about 5 minutes.  When melted I added the sunflower oil, let it cool just a couple minutes. I poured one unscented and added lavender essential oil the the other two.  Let cool and harden.

Pry out with a sharp object.  Preferably not a knife if you are prone to accidents. Ahmm...you know who you are.

This one is the cocoa butter with no added scent.  I may be found licking my fingers.  If you are a local friend I will have these in my purse ask me to try it!

Affectionately,
Angela

  5. I haven't made any lotion bars yet, but I've seen several and I like that you have so few ingredients in it--and that you mention where you get them!! I'm hanging onto this recipe...
